Michael's Memo 5/14/18

Michael's Memo 5/14/18
Good morning staff, as we embark on our final 9 days, we seek to capitalize on learning and continue to instruct our students on the standards that they need to master prior to moving on to the next grade level. We do have several activities coming up in the next two weeks. Keep the goal the gaol and continue to build up our students academically, socially, and emotionally. Please remember that you are sometimes the only smiling face that students get to see throughout the day.

SHOUT OUTS
Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Brown, Ms. Mills and Mr. Smith for breaking up the altercation during dismissal and being vigilant towards student safety. It is very important that we keep our eyes sharp and arrive at our duty posts. Everyone is expected to be on duty after school for the final two weeks in hopes of curtailing any negative incidents occurring on campus. Instructors can assist by walking behind students to our three primary dismissal areas: Car rider, elementary bus riders, and middle school bus riders. Teachers were quick to act in deescalating the situation and I want to thank them for their hard work.

Fine Arts Department for a magnificent Dance Concert. The show continues to grow and improve each and every year. I received countless compliments on the how great the show was and parents were so proud of the students. Huge thanks to our Dance Department, along with Orchestra and Theatre department.

Band Concert was great and also provided another opportunity for our school to display the talents of the students and excellent instruction that is occurring on our campus.

Thank you for our wonderful PTA that put on a wonderful week of Teacher Appreciation for the school. We are really grateful for all of the gifts and food that was given as a small token of appreciation for all that you do to make JSA a wonderful school.

Curriculum
Please make sure that we continue to update our lesson plans and that grades are kept current at the school site. Please make sure that you are inputting grades in a timely manner. Parents and stakeholders should not have any "surprises" concerning grades being input on the last day of school.
Lets' attempt to conduct some EDP projects and provide hands on learning within the classroom.

Behavior
Continue to enforce dress code policies and electronic devices. Please limit student movement to mandatory trips outside of the classroom only. Students tend to find trouble towards the end of the year when allowed to exit classes for non mandatory tasks.
