MICHAEL'S MEMO

Good Morning Staff, as we embark upon the week I would like for us to reflect upon the methods of teaching and the set up and expectations of our learners here at JSA Magnet. I would like to recommend watching the video of Sal Khan who created Khan Academy to assist us in shifting our outlook on education and mastery & non mastery and how gaps assist in our students not being successful. Mastery Framework and Agency over our learning are the key points of the video.

Highlight's of the Week @ JSA
I would like to highlight Dennis Dill for constructing the EdCamp style professional development on Monday. I would like to especially thank K. White, S. Barnes, N. Gainey, K. Reddick, R. Huyhn,, M. Turner, and S. Lew for presenting on a wide variety of topics.

The professional development was relevant and successful based upon the feedback on the PD. We seek to always highlight the great instructors here at JSA and continue to build up our infrastructure from within the school.

Focus for the Week

Please focus on the writing process within your lessons of the week. We will focus on 2f. Integrating Cross Content Reading and Writing Instruction. We will focus our coaching and feedback for the week in this primary area. Instructors need to also have the list of items that will be within the portfolio for the students on November 3rd ready at the PLC on Thursday typed or written on a document  to turn in to Mrs. Heineken/Mrs. Sitek.
