Michael's Memo 2/11/18

Michael's Memo 2/11/18
Good evening, thank you for putting forth your best efforts, despite illnesses, student misbehavior, flexible schedules, and other interruptions. I am excited for the upcoming week. We will get the opportunity to showcase our school on Thursday for Marzano Training for administrators. We will come in the classrooms and observe the instruction focusing on student learning. This is not any different from administrative walk throughs. Keep up the good work and know that we appreciate all of the staff. Our video for the week focuses on the power and ability that our students possess if we just give them a chance.

House Keeping Notes
Lesson plans should be updated by Monday of each week. It is imperative that your plans are up to date, to ensure student learning is maximized.

Failure to plan is a plan for failure.

Grades must be updated weekly, two assignments per subject.

All staff members that have duty, please make sure to arrive on time.

KG instructors that transport KG's to the JSA cafe, must remain until an adult arrives on duty. It poses a very unsafe environment when the students are left without supervision.

Staff when you are absent, please make sure that your duty is covered by a fellow staffer.

Please always input your absence the night before if you are not feeling well, or have an inkling that you will be absent.

It puts an extreme strain on the staff when absences are input an hour or right at the beginning of school.

Curriculum and PD Information
Faculty Meeting on Tuesday afternoon, Mandatory for Code of Ethics Review, all staff members must be present 3:30 in the JSA Cafe.

Student Engagement with a focus on Collaborative Pairs and Manipulatives being utilized to assist in instruction and learning.

PLC all instructors k - 5 must bring Math work samples, unless departmentalized. ELA & writing work samples if you do not solely teach Math/Science. Please bring H M L samples of work (high, medium, low).

All participants need to bring work samples, this is part of professional responsibility.

Everyone needs to continue to focus on positive interactions with fellow staff members and students. Creating a culture of support and affirmation of success is something that we want to continue to foster at JSA Magnet.

Science lab activities need to continue to occur on campus. Please make sure to see Mrs. Reddick concerning lab availability.
