Michael's Memo 1/22/18

MM 1/22/18

Good morning, as we countdown the days until we begin our FSA testing, please make sure that we are continuing to maximize instructional time. It is imperative that we refrain from participating in activities that will not foster learning within the classroom. Focus on intervention and reteaching tools to ensure students have learned the standard and can complete the "I can" statement or learning objective. Continue to provide high expectations of your students and they will rise to the occasion. If we expect less, then we will get less.

Shout Outs
Great work by Mrs. Holbert in showcasing the schools activity on social media. Kudos to Mrs. Barnes who utilized domino game for learning allusions. Great work by Mrs. Williams in 4th grade providing students with the opportunity to utilize technology and hands on activities for engineering. Shout out to Mrs. Brown on utilizing small groups within the classroom and pulling studnets within intervention centers to meet their needs. Mrs. Overstreet utilized technology for presentations exploring the planets and their orbits. Students' were required to use vocabulary, images, and examples to display understanding of the planets and their orbits and what characteristics make up multiple planets.

Academic Focus
Continue to use writing to express learning in all grade levels. Administration will begin to collect samples of writing at the end of the week to review student work. Mrs. Sweet will intake the elementary samples and Mrs. Dean will collect the middle school samples. The goal is to ensure that students are writing on a regular basis to display their learning. If you have any questions, please contact administration.

Behavioral Focus
Continue to keep all electronic devices up.
Provide positive statements and comments to students and pass out the JAG bucks.
Check dress code, no non uniform jackets, shirts tucked in, and belts when belt loops are present.
